RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors adopt the attached resolution which authorizes the Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services Director, or a designee thereof to apply for and accept, if awarded, an allocation of one-time funding made available through the California Department of Health Care Services' Homeless Mentally Ill Outreach and Treatment Program.

DISCUSSION:
The California Department of Health Care Services' ("DHCS") Homeless Mentally Ill Outreach and Treatment Program is designed to provide flexible one-time funding for county activities involving individuals with serious mental illness who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. All counties within the State of California are eligible to receive funding through the Homeless Mentally Ill Outreach and Treatment Program, and are encouraged to leverage such funding with other funding sources and initiatives, including, without limitation, efforts to address mental illness among populations with a high likelihood of homelessness.

On July 31, 2018, DHCS announced that it would be accepting applications for one-time funding made available through the Homeless Mentally Ill Outreach and Treatment Program as authorized by California Senate Bill 840. In order to receive such funding, the County of Humboldt must submit a letter of interest, along with a resolution of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors authorizing such submittal, to DHCS on or before September 25, 2018.
