DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors would like to recognize the month of August at Coast Guard Month. The Coast Guard is an important part of Humboldt County and has been serving our communities by sea and air for decades. Today’s Coast Guard is the nation’s oldest continuous maritime service, which over its 228 years has been known as the U.S. Lighthouse Service, the Revenue Cutter Service, the Steamboat Inspection Service, the Lighthouse Board, the U.S. Life-Saving Service, the Bureau of navigation and the Bureau of Marine Inspection and Navigation. Their familiar red vehicles by sea and air serve to watch over Humboldt in many ways. The Board of Supervisors wishes to thanks the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard for their excellence.
