Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors appoint Sheryl Lyons to the Humboldt County Children and Families Commission as a representative of the Department of Health and Human Services with the term to expire in June 2019.

DISCUSSION:
Stephanie Weldon, Director of Child Welfare Services, recommends Sheryl Lyons, Children and Family Services Program Manager, to serve on the Humboldt County Children and Families Commission (First 5) until June 2019. Veronica (Nica) Meggerson, Children and Family Services Program Manager, has served on the Commission since February 2016. Ms. Lyons is the Program Manager for Special Projects in Child Welfare Services and has prior experience as the Department of Health and Human Services representative on the First 5 Commission, from May 2013 to February 2016.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
No financial impact. Approving the replacement of Veronica (Nica) Meggerson with Sheryl Lyons as representative to the Humboldt County Children and Families Commission (First 5) supports the Board's Strategic Framework to protect vulnerable populations.

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board could choose not to replace Veronica (Nica) Meggerson as representative to the Humboldt County Children and Families Commission (First 5) with the appointment of Sheryl Lyons, however this alternative is not recommended.
