Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors direct the Clerk of the Board via Public Works Land Use Division to publish in the Times Standard Newspaper on June 10, 2018, a notice of the County of Humboldt's intent to convey property pursuant to Government Code section 25365 (4/5 vote required).

DISCUSSION:
Blue Lake Fire Protection District has approached Humboldt County Department of Public Works staff with a request to convey the Blue Lake road barn property, which is referred to as 746 K Street, Blue Lake, CA, Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 025-022-002 and is situated at the intersection of 5th Avenue and K Street in Blue Lake (Attachment 2). Blue Lake Fire Protection District has been leasing the property from the county since August 5, 2003, and intends to build a three-bay, 3200 square foot building.

Department records show that on May 13, 1941, the Board of Supervisors accepted fee title to the property from Charles M. Tomlinson. The deed was recorded on May 17, 1941. The deed does not specify the purpose of the acquisition; however, it appears that the current structure used as a road bam was likely constructed close to the acquisition date. The county has not used the property as a road bam facility since at least 1997. The sale of the property to the City of Blue Lake was contemplated in 1998, but no action was ever taken. Since then it has been leased either entirely or in part to various entities, most recently to Blue Lake Fire Protection District.
