STRATEGIC PLAN:
This action supports the following areas of your Board's Strategic Plan.

Area of Focus: Safe & Healthy Communities
Strategic Plan Category: 1007 - Improve the transportation network to be multi-model, safe, sustainable and equitable

DISCUSSION:
In 2023, DHHS - Public Health's Falls Prevention Program purchased one Air Kit 4 Bicycle Pump to donate to Alice Birney Elementary School. Public Health has worked closely with Alice Birney for many years, supporting the school's very active after-school bike club. Donation and installation of this bike pump is an example of an environmental strategy to increase access to physical activity for young people in our community who might not otherwise have access to these opportunities. The bike pump will provide ongoing policy, systems and environmental PSE goals at this school site. This donation will directly contribute to the safety and well-being of students, as properly inflated tires enhance bicycle safety, reduce the likelihood of accidents and promote physical activity among students.

Approval of this donation aligns with the Board's strategic plan, emphasizing student well-being, eco-friendly practices and workforce support.
