DISCUSSION:

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is seeking approval and funding from the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission (MBCC) for the purchase of a tract of land situated in Humboldt County, within the approved boundary of the refuge, and identified as APN 506-291-014-000.

The MBCC requires approval by the Governor before it will fund an acquisition, and that approval authority, in California, has been delegated to the Executive Director of the California Fish and Game Commission (FGC), which requires as a condition of approval, a resolution of support from the county in which the acquisition will happen.

FWS is seeking support from Humboldt County with regard to the acquisition.
