DISCUSSION:
In recognition of the importance of childhood cancer awareness, the Board wishes to proclaim September 2020, as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Humboldt County. Childhood cancer only receives 4% of the money raised for research in the United States even though cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children between infancy and age 15. New research and better protocols can only happen after more attention and funding is in place. The Board would like to encourage Humboldt County citizens to support programs and bring awareness to childhood cancers and disease.
