DISCUSSION:
On Jan. 13, 2024, the Humboldt County Sherriff’s Special Services deputies were called into action near Felt Road to assist a homeowner with an evacuation effort due to flooding. Due to rising water levels, deputies had to deploy a zodiac raft to traverse approximately 1 mile of flooded roadway to assist the residents. Deputies were able to safety evacuate two adults, a one-month-old infant, and the family cat from nearly four feet waters that were rapidly rising in their home.
The Board of Supervisors would like to recognize the efforts and actions of Deputy Willoughby and Deputy Taylor and acknowledge the importance of their efforts by presenting a Certificate of Recognition to these deputies that lets them know how important their training and work is to our community.
