DISCUSSION:
DHHS - Public Health became a nationally accredited public health jurisdiction in November of 2016. As a nationally accredited health jurisdiction, DHHS - Public Health produces and publishes a CHA on a 5-year cycle. The purpose of the CHA is to tell the story of the health of Humboldt County with a life course approach, beginning with health in early life, then exploring the social determinants of health that have impact throughout life, followed by risk behaviors and health outcomes and finally ending with mortality. DHHS - Public Health released its first CHA in 2013 and this 2018 CHA updates the previous document with updated community health data.
