RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Receive and file the bids for the John Haynes Veterans Memorial Building Project, Project Number 162765; and
2. Award the project to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, Adams Commercial General Contracting, Inc., Eureka, California in the amount of Three Million Seven Hundred Ninety-Four Thousand Nine Hundred Thirty-Seven Dollars ($3,794,937); and
3. Authorize the Chair of the Board to execute a construction agreement with Adams Commercial General Contracting, Inc. after staff approves the bonds and insurance; and
4. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide the Department of Public Works with one (1) fully executed certified copy of the Board order related to this item.

DISCUSSION:
On June 25, 2024, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors ("Board") reviewed the current status of the John Haynes Veterans Memorial Building Project, considering multiple options to address a budgetary shortfall while keeping the project moving ahead. Ultimately, the Board directed staff to proceed with Option 1, preserving the original program and design of the building, and authorizing additional funding in the amount of Three Million Five Hundred Seventy-Two Thousand Seven Hundred Eighteen Dollars ($3,572,718) in accordance with the most recent project cost estimate.
