RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Receive the plans and specifications pertaining to the Humboldt County Regional Facility (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) HVAC Replacement Project, Project Number 162839; and
2. Authorize Public Works to advertise the Humboldt County Regional Facility HVAC Replacement Project, pursuant to Section 22037 of the California Public Contract Code on Oct. 8, 2024, with bids to be opened on Nov. 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM

DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Regional Facility is a county owned building built to house a juvenile detention program run by the Probation Department. The facility is in need of replacement of three deteriorating rooftop package heating units and replacement of an additional air conditioning unit for the facility control room.

Of the seven mechanical heating units serving the building this project will replace the three remaining original units and an air conditioning unit. The four other units have been replaced and are currently functional. The existing units for replacement have deteriorated and do not function effectively due to their age and exposure on the rooftop. There are rust holes in the units which have caused leaks into the building.

The replacement units have been designed to meet current code and provide more energy efficient heating and ventilation air to the building using the existing ductwork system.
