Amendment to extend Professional Services Agreement by and between County of Humboldt and Redwood Community Action Agency

RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the attached no-cost amendment to extend the term of Humboldt County Probation's (HCPD) agreement with Redwood Community Action Agency (RCAA) to provide long-term case management services to clients recovering from drug and alcohol addiction; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return two signed copies of the amendment to the Probation Department, Attention: Ellisha Hardison, Legal Office Business Manager.

DISCUSSION:
On Nov. 20, 2019, the Humboldt County Community Corrections Partnership Executive (HCCCP) Executive Committee carried a motion to recommend $116,373 in one-time funds to continue the case management services that Redwood Community Action Agency (RCAA) has been providing in local substance abuse disorder (SUD) treatment programs since 2017. These RCAA case managers assist with long-term case management services to clients recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. The five case managers employed through RCAA work to support the clients with a successful transition to sober living and self-sufficiency by: strategizing with clients to create a unique plan with realistic goals and timelines; meet clients weekly to assist them with goal attainment and provide support; provide job skill development and job placement assistance; assist with transportation as needed so that clients can attend work, health appointments, apply for services, and report data back to Probation.
