RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve use of the Deferred Maintenance Fund in the amount of $29,389 for repairs and improvements to the water system for the Swimmers Delight campground at Van Duzen County Park; and
2. Approve the attached supplemental budget (Attachment 1). ( 4/5 Vote Required)

DISCUSSION:
Van Duzen County Park provides camping at the Swimmers Delight and Pamplin Grove campgrounds. Each campground has a water system sourced by a groundwater well. The water systems are regulated as "non-transient, non-community" public water systems by the state Department of Water Resources.

The water system for the Swimmers Delight campground has urgent repair and replacement needs. The booster pump from the groundwater well failed this summer and had to be replaced on an emergency basis. The water filter unit has reached the end of its useful life and is currently being bypassed. The water system does not have an automatic disinfection system; instead, chlorine is added manually on a monthly basis. Some of the piping and electrical components are obsolete (remnants from previous repairs) and create operational and maintenance problems.

Three bids were solicited to repair and upgrade the water treatment system for Swimmers Delight. The base work includes removing obsolete plumbing and electrical components; installing a new water softener and filter system, filter backwashing system, and chlorine injection syste...
