RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors approve the attached Request for Budget Transfer/Adjustment in the amount of $50,000, for the Engineering Division to fund the remainder of the project in the current fiscal year (4/5 vote required); accept the completed contract, including all change orders approved by the Public Works Department, between GR Sundberg, Inc., and Humboldt County for the Red Cap Road Shoulder Widening, Post Mile 0.30-1.56 (Phase 2); and approve the final claim for payment, as submitted by the Public Works Department to the Auditor/Controller, in the amount of $33,461.44, which will bring the total amount paid to one hundred (100) percent of the contract.

DISCUSSION:
This project consisted of drainage improvements, shoulder widening, and a paving overlay on Red Cap Road from post mile 0.30 to post mile 1.56, as the second phase of a project that widened the road and provided bike lanes from post mile 0.0 to post mile 1.56. This project completed the portion between Big Rock Gulch Bridge and Shivshaneen Lane. The Karuk Tribe agreed to provide funding that it received from the Federal Highway Administration Tribal Transportation Program to assist the county in implementing these improvements.

On June 9, 2015, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Clerk of the Board to advertise the above referenced project for bids. On July 14, 2015, the county received four (4) bids for the project.
