Body

STRATEGIC PLAN:

This action supports the following areas of your Board’s Strategic Plan.

Area of Focus:  Safe & Healthy Communities

Strategic Plan Category:  1001 -Support and sustain partnerships between public safety and partner agencies to enhance public safety in our communities

DISCUSSION:

In 2005, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) loaned a trailer-mounted generator to the CALFIRE Humboldt-Del Norte Unit for use at the Garberville fire station for emergency preparedness (Attachment 2). In the past twenty years, HCSO has not needed the generator and believe it’s in the best interest of the public to let it remain at the fire station. HCSO is requesting that it be donated to CALFIRE and ownership transferred, effectively terminating the loan agreement.

SOURCE OF FUNDING:

N/A

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

There is no negative financial impact to donation of this generator.

STAFFING IMPACT:

There is no impact to staffing.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

CALFIRE Humboldt-Del Norte Unit

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:

The Board may choose to not approve the recommendations. However, this is not recommended as it would result in a partner agency losing equipment needed for their operations.
