RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the recommended allocation of funding made available through the California Department of Social Services' Child Abuse Prevention, Intervention and Treatment Program to McKinleyville Community Collaborative; and
2. Authorize the Department of Health and Human Services - Child Welfare Services Director, or a designee thereof, to execute a professional services agreement with McKinleyville Community Collaborative regarding the provision of child abuse intervention and prevention services to at-risk populations throughout Humboldt County that is substantially similar to the attached sample professional services agreement, and any subsequent amendments thereto, after review and approval by County Counsel, Risk Management and the County Administrative Office.

DISCUSSION:
The California Department of Social Services - Office of Child Abuse Prevention has provided funding through the Child Abuse Prevention, Intervention and Treatment Program (CAPIT Program) since fiscal year 2002-2003. The CAPIT Program provides early intervention and prevention services to at-risk populations throughout California. The services provided to at-risk children and families include, without limitation, parenting classes, individualized parenting training and parent support meetings.
