STRATEGIC PLAN:
This action supports the following areas of your Board's Strategic Plan.
Area of Focus: Safe & Healthy Communities
Strategic Plan Category: 1006 - Implement Live Well Humboldt - Community Health Improvement Plan
DISCUSSION:
In November 2016, the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) awarded the DHHS-PHB as an accredited public health jurisdiction. DHHS - PHB was then reaccredited in 2023. As a nationally accredited health jurisdiction, DHHS - PHB produces and publishes a CHA on a three-year cycle. The CHA survey helps tell the community's story - what makes the community healthy and what problems the community faces. Collecting information and listening to people who live in the community, shows what is needed to get better and how to make the community healthier together. The CHA shows problems, such as not enough dentists and lack of housing, and also points out helpful things, like access to parks, libraries and clinics. This 2026 CHA updates the data from previous assessments and will be used to develop the upcoming Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).
