RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve acceptance of $170,788 grant funds from the California State Library's Building Forward grant program; and
2. Adopt the resolution to implement the Building Forward Library Infrastructure grant for the Eureka Library; and
3. Authorize the Auditor/Controller to sign a letter similar to attachment five verifying the availability of library match funds from Library Fund Balance for the project; and
4. Return to the Humboldt County Library the executed copies of the resolution and the verification of match funds letter from Auditor/Controller.

DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Library applied for and received $170,788 a California State Library Building Forward grant for life, safety, and critical infrastructure improvements at the Eureka Library.

The proposed project at the Eureka Branch of the Humboldt County Library will primarily involve deferred maintenance repairs to the facility. Critical maintenance items at the Eureka Branch have been identified, assessed, and estimated by County Public Works Building Maintenance staff and Project Managers, as well as local contractors and vendors.

The Eureka Branch has numerous critical maintenance needs. While current estimates of the cumulative total of these maintenance items exceeds three million dollars, the focus is on the most urgent critical maintenance and safety items, namely:
