RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and ratify the Humboldt County Public Works Director's execution of, the attached vegetation removal services agreement with the California Conservation Corps regarding the removal of vegetation from property within the County of Humboldt's easement parallel to the lower end of Crannell Road during the period of September 30, 2019, through June 30, 2020.

DISCUSSION:
Crannell Road is surrounded by wet marshland which is one of the most difficult environments to work in due to the inability to use heavy equipment of any kind. Currently drainage for the lower end of Crannel Road is plugged by vegetation which is causing flooding of the surrounding property. Preventative maintenance is required to remove the vegetation to prevent future flooding during the coming rainy season.

The attached vegetation removal services agreement will allow the California Conservation Corps to assist the Humboldt County Department of Public Works ("Public Works") in removing vegetation from property within the county's easement parallel to the lower end of Crannell Road in order to increase drainage in a historically flood prone area. It should be noted that the attached vegetation removal services agreement with the California Conservation Corps was executed by the Public Works Director on October 1, 2019, in order to avoid any unnecessary delays in the provision of needed vegetation removal services.
