Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve a resolution allowing an exception to the 180- day wait period to employ Curtis Eikerman as an extra help retired annuitant Aviation Operations Manager (class 0617, salary range 512, step E) with the Humboldt County Department of Aviation, to assist in onboarding and training the newly hired and critically needed permanent position of Aviation Operations Manager. (4/5 Vote Required)

DISCUSSION:
On April 10, 2026, Curtis (Curt) Eikerman retired from his position of Aviation Operations Manager with the Humboldt County Department of Aviation, after more than 5 years of experience in Humboldt County and more than and more than 23 years of experience as an operations manager within the aviation industry. With the level of responsibilities, specialized technical skills and knowledge of Federal, state and county rules and regulation for which the Aviation Operations Manager is responsible, the Department of Aviation requests an exception to the 180-day wait period retired annuitants for Curt Eikerman to assist with on-boarding and training of the newly hired Aviation Operations Manager.
