1. Appoint a Board Representative to the Humboldt County Redevelopment Oversight Board.

DISCUSSION:
In September 2015, the State of California approved Senate Bill No. 107, which guided the final technical steps for dissolving local redevelopment agencies. The legislation required counties with more than one redevelopment oversight board to consolidate them into a single countywide oversight board, staffed by the Humboldt County Auditor-Controller's Office. Accordingly, Humboldt County's three oversight boards were consolidated in 2018.
In the past, Humboldt County had three oversight boards, Arcata, Eureka and Fortuna, each of which included appointees from the Board of Supervisors. As noted, the oversight boards for each agency have been dissolved.
The Humboldt County Redevelopment Oversight Board is composed of seven members and has the authority to oversee and direct the successor agencies to wind down activities and expeditiously liquidate the assets of the former redevelopment agencies.
Pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 341790)(1), the Board of Supervisors is responsible for appointing one Board representative to the Humboldt County Redevelopment Oversight Board. The oversight board meets one or two times annually for approximately an hour.
The last appointment was made in January 2023 and Supervisor Bohn was appointed.
