RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Adopt the attached resolution authorizing the Humboldt County Department of Public Works to apply for, and accept, grant funding made available through the California Department of Parks and Recreation's Per Capita Grant Program;
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) fully executed certified copy of the attached resolution to the Humboldt County Department of Public Works for submission to the California Department of Parks and Recreation; and
3. Approve, and authorize the Humboldt County Auditor-Controller to process, the attached supplemental budget request regarding the funding made available through the California Department of Parks and Recreation's Per Capita Grant Program (4/5 vote required).

DISCUSSION:
On June 5, 2018, California voters approved Proposition 68 which created a program to make funds available for local park rehabilitation, creation and improvement grants to local governments on a per capita basis. Grant recipients are encouraged to utilize awards to rehabilitate existing infrastructure and address deficiencies in neighborhoods lacking access to the outdoors. Humboldt County was allocated a total of $400,000 (Attachment 1). Maintenance and repair activities are not eligible for grant reimbursement. One of the requirements for accessing the funds is passage of an authorizing resolution approving the filing of one or more applications.
