DISCUSSION:
Sugar Pine Mountain is a communications site located southwest of Hoopa, within the Hoopa Reservation (Exhibit A - Vicinity Map). The site has been providing the Humboldt County Sheriff Office with radio coverage in the general area since June of 2014, subject to a Tower and Space License (Exhibit B - 2014 Tower and Space License).

The Humboldt County Radio System Replacement Project has been underway since 2019, to upgrade its radio systems throughout the county for enhancement of the Sheriff and public service radio coverage. A review of the Sugar Pine Mountain Site indicated the need to replace its solar array that supplies power to the radio system. Since the license has expired, a new license is required for continued use of the site. The Hoopa Reservation is aware of the site and use and has no objection to a new Tower and Space License for continued use with no changes to its equipment for a five (5) year term.
