RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept the completed contract, including all approved change orders, with Mercer-Fraser Company regarding the construction of Storm Damage Repair to Kneeland Road (F6F060) Post Mile 37.09; and
2. Approve the final claim for payment, to be submitted by the Department of Public Works to the Auditor-Controller's Office, in the amount of $100, which will bring the total amount paid to 100% of the contract; and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works with one fully executed certified copy of the Board order related to this item.

DISCUSSION:
On Feb. 21, 2019, the Governor of the State of California declared a disaster for Humboldt County due to severe winter storms, flooding, and mudslides. Kneeland Road (F6F060) Post Mile 37.09, located in the Freshwater area of Humboldt County, experienced embankment and shoulder failure in the outboard lane caused by storm water oversaturating the soil and eroding the slope. An asphalt berm and signs were placed near the damaged area at the time of the disaster to minimize further damage and maintain essential traffic.

On Apr. 12, 2022, the Humboldt County Department of Public Works ("Public Works") received Federal Highway Administration funding approval to construct the Kneeland Road (F6F060) Post Mile 37.09 Storm Damage Repair Project.
