RECOMMENDATION(S):

Recommendation

That the Board of Supervisors:

1.                     Approve the appointment of Weylan Shaw as the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights and Measures effective June 9, 2024; and

2.                     Approve an advance step placement of Step A.

DISCUSSION:

Weylan Shaw has been serving as the Interim Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights and Measures since December 2021. During that time, Mr. Shaw has received no step increases. Accordingly, staff recommends that your Board approve the appointment of Weylan Shaw as the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights, effective June 9, 2024 at step A.

 

SOURCE OF FUNDING: 

General Fund

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2024-25 annual salary and benefits for the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights with the advanced step is anticipated to be $230,754. There are sufficient appropriations in Fund 1100, Budget Unit 261 - Agricultural Commissioner to fund this in FY 2024-25. This will be included in future budget cycles.
