RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Director, or a designee thereof, to execute, the attached memorandum of understanding (MOU) and business associate agreement with PPNorCal regarding GC AST services provided by the Humboldt County Public Health Laboratory (HCPHL); and
2. Authorize the Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Director, or a designee thereof, to execute any and all subsequent amendments, and any other agreements, certifications, attestations and documents directly associated with, the attached memorandum of understanding and business associate agreement with PPNorCal, after review and approval by County Counsel, Risk Management, and the County Administrative Office; and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide the Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Contract Unit with one (1) fully executed, certified copy of the Board order related to this item.

DISCUSSION:
In May 2022, the HCPHL received a state funding allocation for GC AST to monitor cases of concern (e.g., suspected treatment failures), cases with prevalent susceptibility, and to expand the potential to capture emerging resistance to antibiotic treatments.
