RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the attached supplemental budget for Public Works Capital Projects budget unit 1100-170 in the amount of $100,00 for fiscal year (FY) 2022-23 (4/5 Vote Required); and
2. Approve the attached appropriations fund balance transfer from General Fund in the amount of $100,000 for engineering review and documentation of seismic damages to county-owned buildings as a result of the 2022 seismic event (4/5 Vote Required).

DISCUSSION:
On Dec. 20, 2022, the County of Humboldt was struck by an earthquake which resulted in damage to several county buildings including the Courthouse, Correctional Facility, Main Library, Ferndale Grandstands, Eureka Veterans Memorial Building, Clark Complex, Ferndale Veterans Building, and Fortuna Veterans Building. Due to the extensive damage, the county was declared a disaster area by the State of California, allowing for the Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) to assist the county with repairs at 75% of the damage, with the county required to provide the 25% local match. Prior to repair proceeding, staff is requesting funding to allow for structural review and reports of the damaged facilities and documentation of the damages to assist in preparation of bidding documents for repairs to the buildings. The structural review is anticipated to be $65,000 and documentation of damages to be $35,000 for a total of $100,000. These costs are anticipated to be reimbursed at the percentage stated above.
