RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Director of Public Works, or a designee thereof, to execute, the attached cover agreement with the California Department of Transportation regarding adjustment to grade of a manhole and valve covers located near the driveway to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on Fifth Street as part of the State of California's Conventional Highway Construction Project;
2. Authorize the Director of Public Works, or a designee thereof, to execute any and all subsequent amendments to, and any other agreements, certifications, attestations and documents directly associated with, the attached cover agreement with the California Department of Transportation, after review and approval by County Counsel, Risk Management and the County Administrative Office; and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) certified copy of the Board Order pertaining to this item to the Department of Public Works.

DISCUSSION:
The California Department of Transportation ("Caltrans") is currently in the process of implementing the California Conventional Highway Construction Project ("Project") which includes constructing Americans with Disability Act compliant sidewalks, bulb outs and driveways along Fifth Street in Eureka. As part of the Project, a new bulb out in front of the driveway to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility will be installed.
