Surplus Property - 1974 Snow Cat and 1993 Trailer

RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors declare the following property surplus: 1) 1974 Thiokol Chemical Corp “IMP” model 1401WT, serial number 794 snow cat (Snow Cat); and 2) 1993 special construction utility trailer VIN SNTR2853MT, CA license number 946630 (Trailer).

DISCUSSION:
The Snow Cat and trailer are aged and unreliable. Parts to maintain this equipment are difficult to locate or no longer available. A newer more reliable snow cat and trailer have replaced this equipment.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Revenue from the sale of this surplus snow cat and trailer will be deposited into the Sheriff’s Operation budget 1100221.
The sale of this surplus equipment meets the Board of Supervisors Strategic Framework to safeguard the public trust by managing our resources to ensure sustainability of services.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None
ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board of Supervisors could choose not to approve declaring the Snow Cat and trailer surplus. This is not recommended as a denial of the request would result in the Sheriff’s Office assuming additional storage fees for equipment that is no longer needed.
