RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and Authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached lease agreement with the Redwood Gun Club regarding the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office use of the Gunnery Range located in Manila, California; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) fully executed original copy of the lease agreement to Public Works, Real Property for further processing.

DISCUSSION:
The county is responsible for providing a training location to ensure peace officers maintain the proficiency standards required for qualifying with their assigned or available firearms. To fulfill this requirement, the County entered into an agreement with the Redwood Gun Club, allowing personnel from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) to utilize their facility. The Redwood Gun Club is located off Young Lane in Manila, California.

The current agreement is effective from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. The Sheriff's Office now seeks to enter into a new agreement for the upcoming fiscal year, covering the period from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Under the proposed terms, the HCSO will pay a total usage fee of $3,240 for up to 15 training sessions during the agreement term.
