RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors
1. Declare a vehicle and upfitting equipment surplus; and
2. Authorize the sale of the vehicle and equipment to City of Ferndale Police Department; and
3. Deposit the revenue from the sale in the Motor Pool Fund.

DISCUSSION:
City of Ferndale Police Department has an aging patrol vehicle that is in need of replacement.
The county has a patrol vehicle that has been replaced and is fully depreciated. The Humboldt County Public Works Department wishes to direct sale the vehicle to City of Ferndale Police Department to replace their aging patrol vehicle in lieu of selling the vehicle at auction.
Equipment # 07217 2018 Ford Inceptor, Fixed Asset # FA0000027141
Sale price: $1,600.00.
Public Works and the City of Ferndale entered into this type of arrangement with other vehicles in July of 2021 and again in November of 2023; it was a benefit to both parties.
SOURCE OF FUNDING:
Public Works Motor Pool Reserve Fund (3500-351)
Sheriff Operations Fund (1100-221)
FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Narrative Explanation of Financial Impact:
Revenue from the sale of the surplus vehicle will be deposited in the Motor Pool budget (3500-351) and used to offset the purchase of replacement vehicles. Revenue of the surplus equipment will be deposited in the Sheriff Operations budget (1100-221). The revenue covers the salvage value of the vehicle at $1,500 and the salvage value of the equipment at $100.
