DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Animal Services/Control Division has negotiated a standard agreement (Attachment 2) with the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation to provide animal shelter/control services for the North Coast Redwoods District. The agreement provides an Animal Control Officer to respond to calls for service within State parks of Humboldt County. The county's responsibilities include transportation of domestic animals, dogs or cats. Terms of the agreement also authorize Animal Control to proceed with licensing, vaccinations, spay or neuter and microchips after a four-day hold. Services will be provided Monday through Sunday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, providing the county has an Animal Control Officer on duty and available. The agreement expires November 30, 2027.
