DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Department of Public Works - Roads Measure O is requesting authorization to purchase one (1) 2024 Ford F-450 4x2 Cab and Chassis. Roads Measure O recently purchased a new Stencil Bed to replace the outdated one in use. While at the upfitters it was discovered that the newly purchased bed did not fit correctly on the cab and chassis that the old bed came off of. The upfitters were able to secure a new cab and chassis that will fit the bed. The cab and chassis has to be this specific model to work with the bed and the upfitters have it there and available to purchase. The stencil truck is an essential piece of equipment for our Road's workers and is the only piece of equipment the Roads department has to perform that specific type of work.

Narrative Explanation of Financial Impact:
The total cost to purchase one (1) 2024 Ford F-450 4x2 Cab and Chassis is $57,645.50. For FY 25-26, Public Works budgeted $60,000.00 to purchase water tanks. The water tanks were going to be purchased as back up for the existing ones. The need for the Stencil Truck far outweighs the need for back up water tanks and Roads Measure O decided to postpone the purchase of the water tanks in order to fund the Cab and Chassis.
