RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Appoint Peter Stoll and Alex Childers to the Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board for a three (3) year term; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide the Department of Health and Human Services - Behavioral Health with one (1) fully executed certified copy of the Board order related to this item.

The Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board is a requirement of California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5604 and was established per the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act of 1967. The Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services - Behavioral Health actively supports the Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board in accordance with applicable local, state and federal requirements.

Peter Stoll has had roles at the Humboldt/Del Norte Special Education Plan Area (SELPA) and Humboldt County Office of Education (HCOE). His doctoral training is in school and counseling psychology, and he is credentialed in the state as a school psychologist and educational administrator.

Alex Childers has lived experience and is able to share unique experiences as a transition-age youth who received county services.

The Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board consists of fifteen (15) members and meets on a monthly basis in accordance with the provisions of the Brown Act. Counties are encouraged to appoint individuals who have experience and knowledge of the mental health system. The Behavioral Health Board should reflect the diversity of the client population...
