DISCUSSION:
The Department of Aviation is requesting to apply, accept and execute a Caltrans State AIP Matching Grant for the Murray Field Airport PAPI project, AV-2024-01.
On April 14, 2026, your Board approved the bid authorization for the Murray Field Airport Install Runway 12/30 Vertical Guidance Systems AIP No. 3-06-0072-022-2026 Project. To meet United States Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements, the public bidding process was conducted prior to receiving the AIP Grant Agreement No. 3-06-0072-022-2026.
On July 14, 2026, your Board authorized the Department of Aviation to accept a FAA AIP Grant Offer 3-06-0072-022-2026 in the amount of $586,132. This Caltrans AIP Matching Grant will cover up to 5% of the federally awarded amount, or $29,307. If awarded, this award in turn would reduce the county's cost share for this project from $30,850 to $1,543.
