RECOMMENDATION(S):Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve an advanced salary step increase for Deputy County Counsel IV, Victoria Reierstad (class 0600, salary range 599) from Step B to Step D, effective April 26, 2026, pursuant to Section 7 of the Humboldt County Salary Resolution (4/5 Vote Required).

Body
STRATEGIC PLAN:
The recommended action supports the following areas of the Board of Supervisors' Strategic Plan:

Area of Focus: Core Services/Other
Strategic Plan Category: Choose an item.

DISCUSSION:
Victoria Reierstad joined the Humboldt County Counsel's Office on April 26, 2026, as a Deputy County Counsel IV assigned to the juvenile dependency caseload. Prior to joining the County Counsel's Office, Ms. Reierstad worked for the Humboldt County District Attorney's office as a Deputy District Attorney IV. Ms. Reierstad has over eight (8) years of experience as an attorney and has more advanced knowledge than most new hires. This knowledge and experience are directly applicable to her work as a Deputy County Counsel and has resulted in her working at a more advanced level. Deputy County Administrative Officer, Karen Clower, has given her support for this advanced salary step request; however, since Ms. Reierstad is already beyond her first thirty (30) days of employment with the County of Humboldt, Board approval is required for this action.
