RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept a community grant of $9,193 from Coast Central Credit Union for the DHHS - Public Health MCAH CPS Program; and
2. Approve the attached supplemental budget (Attachment 2) in the amount of $9,193 for FY 2024-25 for DHHS - Public Health MCAH CPS Program (1175420001) (4/5 Vote Required); and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide DHHS Contract Unit with one fully executed certified copy of the Board Order related to this item.

DISCUSSION:
In the County of Humboldt, car seat safety inspection data shows that more than 90% of car seats inspected are being used incorrectly: either the wrong size or type of safety restraint system for the child is in use, or they are incorrectly installed. The DHHS - Public Health MCAH CPS Program aims to educate the community about the importance of safety seats, the current laws governing the use of safety restraints, the proper use of all types of restraints, i.e., car seats, boosters and seat belts and provide low-income families with free safety seats when needed.
