RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Adopt the resolution (Attachment 1) asserting the county’s commitment to fair housing; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to deliver a certified copy of the resolution to the Planning and Building Department.

DISCUSSION:
The Planning and Building Department is developing an application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to further housing activities on several fronts. One of the prerequisites to application is a Fair Housing Resolution. The Fair Housing Resolution attached reiterates your Board’s commitment to fair housing and bolsters the Fair Housing Program in the works in the Planning and Building Department. Adoption of the attached resolution will allow the Department’s CDBG application to pass threshold requirements and compete for funding.

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board may decline the resolution; however, the department recommends against this as it would terminate the application and potential for funding housing activities.
