DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors has been asked to write a letter in support of the Cochran Creek (Humboldt Bay) Fish Passage and Habitat Rehabilitation Implementation Project. This project is needed to restore connectivity of Cochran Creek and Quail Slough with the Pacific Ocean in order to enhance local populations of salmonids, especially Coho salmon. In addition, this project would enhance and restore fish passage, tidal marsh, instream and floodplain habitat, assist with overbank flooding and the protection of agricultural lands.
