RECOMMENDATION(S):

Recommendation

That the Board of Supervisors:

1.                     Receive a status update from the Tobacco Retailer Licensing Ordinance Ad Hoc and Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) Public Health Branch and provide direction to staff as appropriate.

DISCUSSION:

The Tobacco Retailer Licensing Ordinance Ad Hoc Committee met with staff from DHHS’s Public Health Branch to discuss the Humboldt County Tobacco Retailer Licensing Ordinance (Attachment 1). The committee and staff are reviewing relevant information and considering possible amendments to the ordinance to ensure certain policies remain effective and aligned with public health objectives.

 

SOURCE OF FUNDING: 

General Fund (1100)

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

There are no direct costs associated with receiving a status update from the Tobacco Retailer Licensing Ordinance Ad Hoc Committee and DHHS Public Health Branch. As a result, the recommended action will not impact the Humboldt County General Fund.

 

STAFFING IMPACT:

Receiving a status update from the Tobacco Retailer Licensing Ordinance Ad Hoc Committee and Department of Health & Human Services Public Health Branch has no impact to staff. However, any direction provided by the Board could increase staff workload in the future.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

None
