DISCUSSION:
Now in its eleventh year, the California Nonprofit of the Year initiative provides the opportunity for each California state legislator to recognize a nonprofit organization doing outstanding work in their district. This year, the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission has been selected as a 2026 Nonprofit of the Year by Assemblymember Rogers in recognition of its exceptional work supporting the film industry and promoting Humboldt and Del Norte Counties as premier filming destinations.

Through its efforts, the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission has contributed to local economic development, job creation and increased regional visibility. It has played a vital role in supporting film production and media projects throughout the region.

By facilitating connections between filmmakers, local businesses and community resources, it has helped attract a variety of productions that showcase the unique landscapes and communities of Humboldt and Del Norte counties. As the official film commission for the region, its work continues to strengthen the local economy, support small businesses and enhance the cultural and economic vitality of the area.

The Board of Supervisors would like to recognize and celebrate its recent selection as a 2026 Nonprofit of the Year with a certificate of recognition.
