RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Direct the Registrar of Voters to conduct the general municipal election for the City of Fortuna;
2. Consolidate the election with the General Election to be held on November 8, 2022;
3. Direct the City of Fortuna to reimburse the County of Humboldt for costs incurred; and,
4. Request the Clerk of the Board forward the signed Board Order and copy of City of Fortuna Resolution 2022-16 to the Humboldt County Office of Elections.

DISCUSSION:
On June 6, 2022, the City of Fortuna passed Resolution No. 2022-16 which orders a general municipal election. The City of Fortuna is requesting consolidation with the General Election to be held on November 8, 2022, pursuant to Elections Code, Section 10403 and agrees to reimburse the County of Humboldt for all costs associated with the consolidated election.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Election consolidation will ultimately not impact the General Fund. All funds advanced by the General Fund will be fully reimbursed by the City of Fortuna.

This action supports your Board's Strategic Framework by providing community-appropriate levels of service and building interjurisdictional and regional cooperation.

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
Your board could choose not to approve consolidation of the City of Fortuna General Municipal election with the General Election. This is not recommended as this request is compliant with Elections Code Section 10403.
