RECOMMENDATION(S):Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Receive and approve the plans and specifications for the Humboldt County Sheriff Patrol Office Remodel Project, Project Number 2026-501; and
2. Authorize the Clerk of the Board to advertise the Humboldt County Sheriff Patrol Office Remodel Project, Project Number 2026-501, pursuant to Section 22037 of the California Public Contract Code, with bids to be opened at 2:00 pm on July 14, 2026.

DISCUSSION:
On September 7, 2016, the County of Humboldt entered into a consent decree with the United States Department of Justice that required the commencement of the Humboldt County Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Project. The purpose of the Humboldt County Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Project is to bring all facilities owned or leased by the County of Humboldt that provide programs, services and activities to the public into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Humboldt County Sheriff Patrol Office Remodel Project, Project No. 2026-501, is part of this compliance effort.
The Humboldt County Sheriff Patrol Office Remodel Project will address accessibility upgrades, tenant improvements and deferred maintenance at the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Main Station. On August 25, 2025, the County of Humboldt entered into a consultant services agreement with McSorley Architecture to provide architectural design and consultation services for the Humboldt County Sheriff Patrol Office Remodel Project.
