RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Ratify the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board re-appointments of Leslie Castellano, Lee Cunningham, Madison Flynn, Dennis Leonardi, Mark Plubell, Cedar Reuben, Treston Shull, Tanya Trump and Kerry Venegas to the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board for a term of two years effective immediately, in accordance with the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board Bylaws (Attachment 1);
2. Ratify the nominations to the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board Executive Committee of Dennis Leonardi as Chair, Shelley Nilsen as Vice Chair, Lee Cunningham as an At-large General representative, Cedar Reuben as an At-large General representative and Cindy Bumgarner as the At-Large Higher Education representative (Attachment 2); and
3. Ratify the resignation, from the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board, of Brian Mistler (Attachment 1).

DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Workforce Development Board is a commission appointed by the Board of Supervisors and is required by the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act to oversee said funds and the workforce system in Humboldt County. The mission of the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board is to bring together resources to meet employer and employee needs and advance the prosperity of local communities. The Workforce Investment Opportunity Act requires certain public agencies and labor unions to be appointed members of the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board. The Workforce Investment Opportunity Act also requires that membership be 51% private sector and that the Chair of Humboldt County Workforce Development Board be a business representative.
