RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Chair to execute, the attached letter confirming full authority of the office of the Human Resources Director is granted to the Interim Director of Human Resources.

DISCUSSION:
The office of Human Resources is tasked with responding to requests related to the audit and validation of disability retirement applications for CalPERS Benefit Services. As such, it is necessary for the county to have an appointed HR Director with authority to respond to such requests. As such, staff requests that the current Interim HR Director, Darlene "Dar" Rhodes, be granted the authority to Perform all of the Functions and Duties of the office of Human Resources Director in order to conduct the breadth of assignments required by the office, including but not limited to actions related to the audit and validation purposes of CalPERS disability and retirement benefits.

The attached letter confirms the authority granted to Interim Director Rhodes to perform all of the Functions and Duties of the Office of Human Resources Director, for the remainder of her tenure, per the existing professional services agreement with Humboldt County or until such time a permanent Director of Human Resources has been appointed.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the General Fund resulting from your Board's approval beyond staff time spent on the development of this staff report and related documentation.
