RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the acting supervisor out of class temporary pay assignment of Tyson Sanchez from Senior IT Technician (Class 188, Range 445) to IT Systems Supervisor (Class 645, Range 468) pursuant to American Federation of State, Municipal and County Employees (AFSCME) Memorandum of Understanding section 12.4, retroactively from October 19, 2020.

DISCUSSION:
On October 19, 2020 the IT Systems Supervisor took an unexpected leave of absence. Tyson Sanchez has been fulfilling the obligations of the IT Systems Supervisor since the first day of leave. He therefore should be compensated appropriately for the IT Systems Supervisor position.

This request is before your Board because Mr. Sanchez will be the IT Systems Supervisor for more than 20 days and will continue in that position until the IT Systems Supervisor returns.

The Human Resources Department has been consulted about this assignment and supports this request as appropriate under the circumstances.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The total salary and benefit cost for this out of class assignment for an estimated period of absence in 2020-21 is $2,366.19. Funding is available through salary savings due to vacant positions that have not been filled in fiscal year 2020-21.

This action supports your Board's Strategic Framework by providing for and maintaining infrastructure and investing in county employees.
