DISCUSSION:
Formed in 1935 in the Pacific Lumber Company town of Scotia, the Scotia Band has performed continuously for 90 years. Now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the all-volunteer band performs at events throughout Humboldt County and supports local music education by mentoring students, providing instruments and awarding the annual Sewell Lufkin Memorial Scholarship.
Adoption of this resolution formally recognizes the Scotia Band as "Humboldt County's Community Band."
