RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Authorize and direct the Board Chair, or designee, to sign contract agreement with Smart Business Resource Center (Attachment 1) to perform Dislocated Worker support service activities in compliance with the terms and conditions set forth by the California State Employment Development Department;
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return the signed original contract agreement with Smart Business Resource Center to the Workforce Development Board (WDB) Executive Director for submission as required by the State of California Employment Development Department; and
3. Approve the following supplemental budget (Attachment 2) for Economic Development Fiscal Year 2020-21, effective July 1, 2020, in Fund 1120, Budget Unit 287, Organization Key 260 (4/5th vote required):
Revenue: 1120287260-4510 State -Local Assistance $126,000
Expense: 1120287260-2118 Professional Services $126,000

DISCUSSION:
On April 2, 2020 the Employment Development Department announced the availability of up to $10 million of (WIOA) Dislocated Worker Funds to provide supportive services to individuals impacted by COVID 19. These funds were allocated to support qualified individuals with supportive services including but not limited to: equipment purchase to aid in telework, housing assistance, utility assistance, childcare assistance and transportation assistance.
