DISCUSSION:
Nurses are the largest segment of the U.S. health care workforce, providing essential, high-quality care across a wide range of settings. In Humboldt County, 74 nursing professionals within the Department of Health & Human Services support the health and well-being of residents through integrated Public Health, Behavioral Health and Social Services Programs.
As health care needs grow due to an aging population, emerging challenges and expanding home-based care, the demand for skilled nurses continues to increase. National Nurses Week, observed May 6-12, recognizes the vital role nurses play and provides an opportunity to honor their contributions and ongoing commitment to the community.
