RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Appoint Eddie Morgan to the Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board for a three-year term; and
2. Appoint Saul Lopez to the Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board for a three-year term; and
3. Appoint Lenard Alan Miller to the Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board for a three-year term.

DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board is a requirement of California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5604 and was established per the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act of 1967. The Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services - Behavioral Health actively supports the Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board in accordance with applicable local, state and federal requirements.

Eddie Morgan is a veteran with over 25 years of experience in public health. Saul Lopez is a veteran and has spent nine years providing services to the veteran community. Lenard Alan Miller has lived experience as a family member of a consumer and would like to increase community involvement.

The Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board consists of 15 members and meets on a monthly basis in accordance with the provisions of the Brown Act. Counties are encouraged to appoint individuals who have experience and knowledge of the mental health system. The Behavioral Health Board should reflect the diversity of the client population in the county.
